Job Description/Responsibilities:

We are looking for a highly-motivated, self-managing individual with an avid desire to learn and apply the knowledge in solving business problems.

  • Individual contributor role within ETD Data Quality Program. Individual in this role will work very closely with ETD DQ Lead within Electronic Trading Data group.
  • Prior experience in financial industry required, also must be accustomed to working in a demanding and high pressure environment.
  • Will contribute and play active role in assembling framework to improve ETD's ability to provide high quality data content to Algo Trading and Equity Front Office Trading systems globally. Provide capability to monitor and identify data content problems before data is provided to the user community.
  • Individual with technical aptitude and detailed knowledge and working experience (5+ years minimum) of global markets and securities reference data (listed equities, options, futures, convertibles, preferred, warrants, indexes, etf's, fixed income instruments). Familiarity with data feeds provided by major street vendors is required (Reuters, Bloomberg) and preferably the ways to monitor incoming data/integrate/map/store data from various sources into single repository.
  • Good understanding of Corporate Actions data and its impact on the changes in securities reference data is required. Come up with algorithms and rules to assess and improve: validation, audit, balance, and control; quality tracking; etc. Ability to analyze raw data, and identify trends, deficiencies and correction procedures. Clear logical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication is required.
  • Additionally, qualified individual would be helping with the ongoing global (Asia, Europe, Americas) development projects to define requirements, identify vendor data sources, and put together test plans.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to understand and construct complex SQL and have extensive knowledge of the principles underlying Data Warehouse & Data Integration design and ETL processes. Experience in large data transformations involving external data vendor’s securities reference data and in house developed transforms (complex sources and targets with many tables and formats).
Key Objectives of Role:
  • Timely and accurate support of the existing system functionality and precision in handling questions/requests from our Front Office partners.
  • Aggressive participation in analysis, data certification and data research in support of Global Equities Front Office Trading Systems new development work.
  • Business and data analysis across different market rules and different asset classes (i.e. Common Stock, Preferred, Options, Futures, Warrants, IPOs, Indexes, ETF, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot data inconsistencies and timely resolution/follow-up with internal and external data providers (Reuters, Bloomberg) and Exchanges.
  • Come up with algorithms and rules to assess and improve: validation, audit, balance, and control; quality tracking; etc.
  • Analysis of raw data (feeds, Reuters and Bloomberg workstations), identification of trends, deficiencies and correction procedures. Clear logical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication is required.

  • Proven educational record in computer science (or relevant subjects) from a well-regarded educational institution.
  • Some international travel may be required.
Requirements:
  • Min 5 to 10 years’ experience.
  • Experience working with Securities reference Data and Metadata from Reuters, Bloomberg, MarkIt, Capco, main global Exchanges.
  • Experience in raw data analysis (feeds, Reuters and Bloomberg workstations), identification of trends, deficiencies and correction procedures.
  • Working understanding: Common Stock, Preferred, Options, Futures, Warrants, IPOs, Indexes, ETF.
  • Symbology mapping and good knowledge of RIC, Bloomberg Ticker, Exchange symbol, ISIN, Sedol, Cusip
  • Global Corporate Actions data
  • Data - The actual data that is stored in the database.
  • Business Metadata - The information of the data related with business and this data is used by functional team (business analysts, smart management experts, business managers etc).
  • Technical Metadata - The information about the data related with technology and this data is used by the technical team (Developers, DBAs) etc
  • Excellent communication skills. Clear logical thinking and excellent written and verbal communication is required.
  • Excellent team work skills.
  • Excellence and proficiency in technology is assumed
  • Data content knowledge is an absolute requirement
  • Unix/Linux platform experience required, no Windows only candidates
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica.
  • Oracle 9i or higher, in VLDB environment.
  • SQL Data Warehouse experience.
